Founded in 1984 as a solo law practice, the Johnson Law Group has evolved into an operating law firm that provides both legal services as well as international development technical assistance. Located in Washington, D.C., associates of the firm provide legal and strategic counsel as well as technical assistance to firms engaged in international development, especially on issues related to democracy and governance reform worldwide. Associates of the firm have provided consulting services for a variety of bilateral and multilateral donors, including USAID, the US Department of State, the United Nations, and others. 

The firm represents clients in civil rights, criminal, small business, probate/estate planning and other matters. The firm serves as  class counsel in the landmark special education civil rights case of Petties v. District of Columbia, et al.
